Traditional Favorites

You dinner starts with a basket of warm, soft pumpernickle bread and butter.

Entrées include a choice of two side dishes unless otherwise noted.

German Sauerbraten - Metzger’s House Specialty Since 1928

Slow roasted choice beef, carefully marinated in wine vinegar and spices. Served with a sour cream sauce.

Fresh Sautéed Veal Bavaria

Milk fed veal, pan sautéed to order, served with a light German wine sauce.

German Rouladen (Friday, Saturday and Sunday Only)

Choice round of beef, rolled and stuffed with onions, bacon, pickles, mustard and spices. Baked in a fresh tomato beef sauce.

Wiener Schnitzel

A breaded, tender pork cutlet.

    Served with Jäger sauce - sauteed fresh peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms and wine.
    Served à la Holstein - with a fried egg.
    Served Zigeuner - with sautéed onions, mushrooms, and green peppers.
    Served with Mushroom sauce.

The Zigeuner Steak

A boneless Certified Angus Beef® top sirloin steak topped with sautéed onions, mushrooms, and green peppers.

German Meat Patties

Fresh ground round, melded with onions and spices then grilled. Served with homemade German gravy.

Jägerbraten

Our slow roasted Prime Rib of beef topped with our Jaeger sauce of sautéed fresh peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms and wine.

Kassler Rippchen

Two grilled smoked pork loin chops A tradition in Hessen.

German Style Chicken Livers

Slowly simmered in white wine and butter. Served with fresh natural onion rings.

German Style Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Krautrouladen: stuffed with rice, ground beef and spices. Topped with a rich tomato sauce.

Metzger’s Famous Omelettes

Plain omelette. Or select from: onions, mushrooms, green peppers, ham, Swiss cheese, fresh tomatoes.

American Entrees

Prime Rib of Beef

Slow roasted Certified Angus Beef® served with natural au jus. A Metzger’s favorite. Large cut 12 oz.

Fillet Mignon

8 oz. Certified Angus Beef® tenderloin fillet served with fresh burgundied mushrooms.

New York Strip Steak

14 oz. Certified Angus Beef® New York Strip steak.

Rib Eye Steak

15 oz., Certified Angus Beef® bone-in Rib Eye served with fresh onion rings.

Sauteed Calves Liver

Sauteed. Served with onions, mushrooms or bacon.

Center Cut Pork Chops

Two 5 oz. chops, char grilled to perfection. Choose to have these with our honey BBQ sauce.

Wursts and Platters

These are complete dinners.

Bratwurst

A lightly spiced veal sausage smothered in caramelized onions. A favorite in the Black Forest. Served with spätzle and Bavarian red cabbage.

Knackwurst

A delightful, mild all beef sausage. Served with spätzle and sauerkraut.

Mettwurst

A smoked pork and beef sausage, a little spicy. Served with spätzle and sauerkraut.

“Wurst” Platte

One link of German Bratwurst, Knackwurst, and Mettwurst. Served with spätzle and sauerkraut.

Haus Platte for Two

Wiener Schnitzel, Bratwurst, Mettwurst, Knackwurst, spätzle, sauerkraut, potato salad, and house salad or soup of the day. (no substitutions, please)

Rheinischer Sampler

Half order of Wiener Schnitzel and Sauerbraten. Served with spätzle and red cabbage.

Pig Hocks or Smoked Pork Shanks

Served with spätzle and sauerkraut.

Fish and Chicken

We will also have daily fresh fish specials.

Fresh Lake Perch

A Metzger’s house specialty. Lightly breaded and pan sautéed to order.

Fresh Lake Superior Whitefish

Choose panfried or broiled. Served with fresh lemon and tartar sauce.

Haddock Fillet

A light and tasty fillet broiled and served with fresh lemon and tartar sauce.

Sesame Chicken

Boneless breast, lightly breaded with a sesame seed crust and sauteed. Served with mushroom sauce on the side.

Deep Fried Jumbo Shrimp

Served with lemon and cocktail sauce.

Chicken Vienna

Chicken breast breaded with ground mustard and lightly panfried. Great with spätzle and red cabbage.

Honey Dijon Chicken

A glazed and grilled boneless chicken breast. Served on rice pilaf with Toro mushrooms and a choice of one side dish.

Pasta (or Spätzle) Primavera

Penne or spätzle with fresh vegetables in a light butter wine sauce and a choice of one side dish.
